Description

The ASI 585M Pro is equipped with a modern sensor with 3840 x 2160 pixels. The Sony IMX585 sensor impresses with its high resolution (2.9µm pixels), high frame rate and the complete absence of annoying amplifier glow (amp glow). This makes this camera not only ideal for planets, the sun and the moon, but also for deep sky photography. The sensor is large enough for many deep sky objects, meaning that a corrector is usually not necessary.

The camera is ideal for:

  • Moon and planet photography with high detail resolution
  • Sun photography (with a suitable filter) with high detail resolution
  • Long exposure photography of nebulae and galaxies
  • Infrared photography to reduce atmospheric influences
  • EAA for planets, moon and sun

Even the raw images are of high quality, as the sensor no longer shows any amplifier glow and the images are very smooth. In addition, there is powerful Peltier cooling to 35° below the ambient temperature, ensuring low-noise images even in midsummer.

Moon and planet photography

Thanks to the small 2.9 µm pixels, you can achieve a very high resolution even at an aperture ratio of f/10, which makes the use of barlow lenses unnecessary.

The clear glass filter prevents dust from entering the sensor. It also allows UV and infrared light to pass through, so you can also take infrared photographs with the camera. With the right selection of contrast filters, nebulae filters, IR pass filters or UV/IR blocking filters, you have full control over which light falls on the sensor.

Peltier cooling – reduces the sensor temperature

The sensor heats up during recording. The regulated Peltier cooling keeps the sensor well cooled even at high outside temperatures. This allows you to cool the sensor down to -15° at an ambient temperature of 20°.

Very high sensitivity for short exposure times

One advantage of the back-illuminated CMOS sensor is lower readout noise and improved sensitivity. Sony uses STARVIS 2 technology in the IMX585 sensor, which ensures excellent visibility in low lighting conditions. You can achieve very high light output in astrophotography and high image quality not only in visible light but also in the near-infrared range (to reduce seeing). In addition, low readout noise and high full-well capacity ensure a wider dynamic range. Combined with the large field of view offered by the large sensor format, the ASI585MC is not only ideal for solar, lunar and planetary photography, but can also be used as a live streaming camera.
