How is it possible to move really heavy telephoto lenses as easily as a feather? With a gimbal suspension mounted on a sturdy tripod! There are several names for this useful instrument, which is particularly common in the USA, where it is called a gimbal head. In German, the technical term Kardankopf is probably the most accurate, although many photographers simply refer to it as Affenschaukel (monkey swing).

The Leofoto PG-3L combines lightness with impressive stability thanks to its precision-crafted 10-layer carbon material. You will benefit from the enormous load capacity and low weight, especially when using heavy camera-lens combinations. Large adjustment knobs on both axes allow for precise and comfortable adjustment of the resistance.
The height-adjustable adapter plate and the longitudinally adjustable quick release plate in Arca-Swiss style allow you to centre the centre of gravity of your camera equipment perfectly – the centre of the lens is exactly above the pivot point. This makes the PG-3L not only the perfect gimbal head for action and wildlife photography, but also an excellent choice for panoramic photography. A 360° scale and the integrated spirit level on the base swivel joint help with precise positioning.
New: quick-release system with clamping lever and safety catch
The redesigned quick-release system with robust clamping lever offers even more convenience and safety when inserting your camera. An additional safety catch protects against accidental release – ideal for professional use in the field.
Leofoto uses high-quality 6061-T6 aluminium alloy with magnesium and silicon as alloy components for the metal parts. This corrosion-resistant material is characterised by high strength and good toughness. The yield strength is comparable to that of structural steel. All parts are milled from solid material on state-of-the-art CNC machines and are therefore significantly more stable than cast parts. Leofoto makes no compromises here either !
